Issaquah Dock

A floating home restored with care, craft, and respect for its original identity.

61 Issaquah Dock is an exceptional floating home in Richardson Bay, originally built in the late 1970s by six Japanese temple builders brought from Japan for the project. Defined by its heavy timber frame and unusual level of craftsmanship, the home carried a strong architectural identity that needed to be preserved through renovation.

Working with JOY-SF and designer Daren Joy, Barker O’Donoghue helped rebuild and modernize the home while respecting the spirit of the original structure. The work required a careful balance of preservation, craft, and contemporary living, with close attention to proportion, light, materiality, and detail.

The result is a warm and deeply considered floating home that feels calm, expansive, and rooted in its original design.
